MessagePro Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be a bank or other financial institution to use MessagePro?

No. Although MessagePro is designed to serve the financial industry, it can be custom-configured to translate any format of payment message into any other format, as long as the original data has a structure. Clients from hospitals to governments have found MessagePro useful in facilitating electronic communications.

Is MessagePro compatible with my in-house computer system?

Each copy of MessagePro is custom-installed to meet your needs, so we can make it work with virtually any system you may be operating.

Can MessagePro handle formats other than those used for SWIFT messages? What formats are supported?

BankServ technicians will set up your software to handle whichever formats you request; there is no limit to the number of formats the software will support. If you also use Message Toolkit, you’ll be able to create your own custom formats as you go. Message Toolkit also includes a library of SWIFT message formats that you can work with as necessary.

Can one message be translated into more than one format at a time?

Yes, MessagePro can translate a single incoming message into multiple outbound messages in different formats, and vice versa.

How can I program MessagePro to separate and re-route incoming data?

MessagePro can direct inbound messages either by format type or by the content inside. The software can be programmed to identify specific data fields within a message and re-route it according to the value. For example, if a bank wants all incoming payments in dollars routed through one branch, but all payments in Euros sent to another, MessagePro can be set up to identify the currency field within the message and direct it to the appropriate place.

Does the software keep records of previous messages?

Every message processed is stored in an easily searchable archive; users can search for a message by any or all of more than 20 criteria, making it possible to find a record of a message even if only part of the necessary information is known. Audit trail information is attached to each message, recording the date, time and user’s identity every time an action is carried out.
