Quality Assurance Engineer IV

Job Description: The QA Engineer IV, a senior-level professional, will be responsible for working on QA assignments of highly complex nature and executing Black box and Gray box testing. He/she will also be responsible for development and implementation of test automation software.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for:

Based on business requirements and software design, identify testing requirements.

Work closely with development, and other members of the QA organization, to identify areas and methods to improve testing efficiency, expand coverage and increase product reliability.

Participate in software design reviews, Functional and Technical Specifications reviews, and Architecture reviews. Identify potential issues and feasible solutions.

Develop Test Strategy, Test Plans, Test Cases and Test Scripts to ensure that full test coverage is achieved.

Provide estimates for assigned tasks/projects.

Develop/identify available test tools to facilitate test process.

Act as a role model to other members of the QA organization.

Provide technical guidance when required.

Report, record and track defects to accurately depict the status of the system, including conducting defect review meetings, daily testing status reports and acting as a single point of contact for defect tracking and updates.

Ensure that test methodologies and processes are followed.

This individual may also have Technical Lead responsibilities.

Qualifications:

Technical mastery in assigned areas; applies skills and competencies in challenging and complex situations.

Expert knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

Proficient in designing and implementing automated tests using major programming and/or scripting languages.

Demonstrated expertise in QA processes and methodology.

Experience using automated test tools such as, but not limited to, Quality Center/ TestDirector, Quick Test Pro (QTP), LoadRunner.

Ability to identify 'hard to detect' software deficiencies.

Ability to assist development in troubleshooting highly complex software issues.

Ability to work independently on highly complex tasks, operating with only general direction from management.

High level of initiative and self-motivation.

Experience with Unix, Linux and various versions of Windows operating systems.

Ability to manage time effectively, organize and prioritize multiple project responsibilities, and to produce quality work under aggressive timelines.

Desired Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences or equivalent work experience in Information Systems is required.

10+ years hands-on experience testing complex software systems including 3+ years in automation.

5+ years hands-on testing experience of web based and client/server based applications (Java, C++, .NET technology)

Understanding of relational database concepts is required.

Database application development experience is a plus.

White Box testing or Software Development experience is a plus.

Knowledge of one or more programming languages, such as Java, C++, XML, etc, is a plus.

Experience with web development and deployment of web-based applications is a plus.

Banking experience including knowledge of Electronic Payments, Funds Transfer, SWIFT, ACH, and Check21 is a plus.
